Tom Dwan is defeated by Phil Hellmuth in a High Stakes Duel

Tom Dwan and Phil Hellmuth's most recent High Stakes Duel is now over, with Hellmuth coming out on top. Round 3 of the duel was equally entertaining to watch as the other rounds had been. The two poker professionals like competing against one another to see who can win. They are both considered legends in the game.

Trying to Win Again

The "Poker Brat" Due to his lone loss against Tom 'durrrr' Dwan in August 2021, Phil Hellmuth was determined to win the third round of the High Stakes Duel III. He intended to increase his winning streak because he was 7 and 0 before to the defeat. In his high stakes matches so far, Hellmuth has prevailed over Daniel Negreanu, Nick Wright, and Antonio Esfandiari.

Dwan invested $100,000 into the contest and was exempt from making a wager in Round 3. According to PokerNews, Hellmuth dropped out of the tournament in Round 2, thus he needed to add $200,000 to get back to the table. Thus, the match's overall prize pool was $400,000.

The PokerGO Studio hosted the two players as they engaged in combat during the bout, which took place at the ARIA. It would not be an easy task because both players are formidable opponents, and the head-to-head match would, of course, take some time to finish.

The first few hands were close between the two players, and no big pots were in view. For the most part, each game stage was rather peaceful.

The Duel is over

The two engaged in a similar kind of conflict as always. The only thing that was different this time is that Dwan struggled to keep a solid lead throughout the competition. At one point, when the board read 7-4-10-A and Hellmuth checked with the K-10 of hearts, he started to gain ground. Hellmuth opted to check-raise when Dwan held the K-2 of diamonds and was called.

Both poker players checked after the nine of spades came down the river, and Dwan was unable to maintain his bluff, handing Hellmuth the hand and 50,000 in chips. This enabled him to grow his lead and finally secure the victory.

Dwan would hold pocket 8s on the final hand of the evening and raise to 7,000. Holding A-K off-suit, Hellmuth made an all-in bet of 70,000. When the board read 5-2-K-6-6, Hellmuth had the best hand. Hellmuth must win another game in order to cash out his gains now that it is ended.

Dwan then declared that he would confront Hellmuth once again. If they do face off again, Dwan will have to fork out $400,000 to participate. By doing this, the overall prize pool would increase to $800,000.
